Украинская спортсменка объяснила, почему не смогла переплыть Ла-Манш
Об этом она написала на своей странице в Facebook, передает "ДС".
По ее словам, за несколько километров от берега Франции экипаж сопровождавшей ее лодки принял решение остановить спортсменку.
"Вкратце - в последние 2 часа я уже видела берега Франции. Но неожиданно моя скорость начала резко замедляться и когда экипаж пытался общаться со мной, я думала, что все они говорят на испанском языке. Мой мозг не реагировал на этот факт - "Почему бы они говорили со мной на испанском?!" (ранние признаки истощения и возможна гипотермия). Я не смогла ответить им, потому что не понимала, что они говорят или хотят от меня. Далее все размыто - мне сказали переплыть на другую сторону лодки, чтобы избежать дизельных паров с задней части судна и отплыть подальше. Экипаж продолжал кричать мне, но я не понимала ни слова. В итоге капитан подозвал меня поближе и протянул руку. Я спорила с ним, потому что не могла понять, почему он меня вытаскивал, но повиновалась. Мое здоровье и моя жизнь всегда были приоритетом при выполнении этой задачи, и поэтому я не жалею о его решении!", - написала девушка.

I argued with him at the time, but in retrospective - it was the best decision he could have made for me and my life.In short - the last 2 hours of my swim I was seeing French cliffs a lot closer and at that time I truly believed I would make it there. Unexpectedly after an hour my stroke rate started to slow down drastically and when crew tried speaking to me, I thought they were all taking in Spanish. My brain did not respond to the fact - "WHY WOULD THEY BE SPEAKING SPANISH"?! -(early signs of exhaustion and possible hypothermia). I could not respond to them since I did not know what they were saying or understand what they wanted from me. The rest is a bit of blur - I was told to go on the other side of the boat to avoid diesel fumes at the back of the boat and started swimming further away from the boat. The crew kept shouting at me , but yet again I could not understand a word. Eventually pilot called me closer to the boat and stretched his hand to pull me up. I argued with him, as I could not understand why he was pulling me out, but obeyed, as the pilot has the last call on everything. My health and my life has always been a priority when doing this challenge and I therefore do not regret his decision!Unfortunately we now found out that a swimmer , who was swimming somewhere parallel to me, has been pulled out unconscious about an hour before me and later died on his way to the hospital. My heart goes out to his family and close ones, and to the English Channel community for such a tragic loss. Your support and messages meant the world to me during my swim. They kept me going and they kept me believing in myself, when times got hard. The Ukrainian flag on the side of the boat was my inspiration and I sang Ukrainian anthem to myself on so many occasions throughout my swim 🙂I am not beaten or sad. I am not regretful. I gave it all I had on the day and will cherish my first attempt across the English Channel for the rest of my life 🙂Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your positive energy, thoughts and prayers - someone up there must have heard them and kept me safe!Слава Україні!
